Rebecca Nordquist is a PI within the Behaviour and Welfare in Farm Animals research group, part of the Behaviour and Welfare research program within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She uses her expertise in animal behaviour and cognition to develop a group of research lines focused on new ways to approach farm animal welfare. The intersection of farm animal welfare and sustainability issues is increasingly part of her research interests, and she is member of the Future Food Utrecht Management Team.

Rebecca trained as a biological psychologist (Masters from Radboud University, 1999) and neuroscientist (PhD from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, 2006), with a focus on animal cognition and the role of neurobiology in animal behavior. Following her PhD she continued to focus on animal behavior in the context of behavioral pharmacology during her postdoc in the pharmaceutical industry (Roche, Switzerland, 2005 - 2008) before moving to farm animal behaviour and welfare at the Facutly of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.
