My main research focus is the use of antibody fragments in various therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. These fragments, derived from Llama glama antibodies, consist of the variable region of the heavy chain (VHH) and are known as nanobodies or single-domain antibodies (sDabs). With a molecular weight of 15 kDa, nanobodies bind with high affinity to diverse targets. They are selected via phage display and can be functionalized through direct conjugation to fluorophores, toxins, or nanoparticles.

As an emeritus associate professor, I currently act as a consultant for companies developing nanobody-based therapeutics, including nanobody-drug conjugates, targeted protein degradation strategies, and delivery systems for transporting therapeutics into the brain.
