Before joining Utrecht University, Luisa García-Manso was a postdoctoral researcher at the Universität Passau in Germany, where she held an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and a Bavarian Gender Equality Grant. Previously, she developed her PhD research in the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) with a National Fellowship. Her dissertation on the construction of collective identities in the historical drama written by women received the Doctorate Award in Arts and Humanities of the Universidad de Oviedo (Género, identidad y drama histórico escrito por mujeres en España (1975-2010), Oviedo: KRK, 2013). She has a Masters in Gender Studies (UIMP-CSIC) and a 5-year-degree in Hispanic Philology (Universidad de Oviedo).
Her articles on theatre, identity, memory, exile and migration have been published in international peer-reviewed research journals such as Annals of Contemporary Spanish Literature (USA), Bulletin of Hispanic Studies (UK), Estreno (USA), Foro Hispánico (NL), Hispania (USA), Iberoromania (Germany), New Theatre Quarterly (UK), Romance Studies (UK) and Signa (Spain).
She is a member of the Research Group InGenArTe (Gender Studies in Cultural Industries and Performing Arts) and the Red Internacional de Investigación y Aprendizaje “Memoria y Narración” (International Research and Learning Network “Memory and Narration”).
