Margot van den Berg is assistant professor at the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication. She participates in the bachelor's programs Linguistics and Language and Culture Studies in the field of sociolinguistics and contact linguistics as lecturer, supervisor and tutor.

Her research lies in the domains of contact linguistics, sociolinguistics and historical creolistics. She is particularly interested in the interactions between linguistic and social processes in language contact situations resulting from migration and their consequences, ranging from language variation and language change to language birth.

Since October 2022, Margot van den Berg has been co-coordinator of Language and Culture studies. This program received the top program quality seal for the third consecutive time in the 2024 university selection guide.
