Expertise: teaching in English, research supervision, second language acquisition
I work as a senior educational advisor and assist programme teams with curriculum innovation. As such, I support the interdisciplinary minor Language, Law and Culture and I advice the Master team Youth Development and Social Change. I approach educational challenges in a systematic way, using scientific research to spur innovation.
Within educational sciences, I am specifically interested in the relationship between teaching quality and teaching in a second language. I teach courses on academic English, English-Medium Instruction (EMI), Didactics for Teaching in English, English Pronunciation, and CLIL. I advice programme teams with the use of English in their curricula. Click here for my recent blog post.
I want to learn more about how learning can become more effective and motivating through the use of game principles in teaching, such as visible progress, fast feedback loops, competition, and gradually unlocking information. Together with CAT I am involved in writing a review on game-based learning. Interested?
