Teach in English and want to improve your pronunciation? Get rid of your Dunglish accent? Learn to speak more fluently in class? Then this pronunciation course might be for you.

Suitable for:
University lecturers who teach in English
Start date(s):
This course has not been scheduled yet
Time investment:
18 hours (12 hours of meetings and 6 hours of self study)
Location:
Utrecht Science Park
Provider:
Onderwijsadvies & Training
Fee:
€ 1.175,- (UU-employees can use O&T units - if available and in consultation with your faculty)

During four sessions of 3 hours we explore the most common difficulties that (Dutch) speakers experience in the pronunciation of English. By the end of the course you will have acquired the tools to adjust your own English pronunciation and you will pronounce English with more confidence to the benefit of your teaching.

The group consists of 6 participants. Participants receive detailed feedback twice on their own audio recording: prior to and halfway through the course. After the course, the materials will be made available to be used at your own leisure.

    I would recommend this course because it makes you much more aware of correct(er) English pronunciation. We are not supposed to talk exactly like a native speaker but at the very least this course teaches you how to avoid the typical mistakes and to soften your non-English accent.

    Annette van den Berg, assistant professor
    Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance

    My main take aways from the course are: That it is possible to improve specific aspects of the accent, and make them sound more native-like (or at least more clear and understandable). What supported my learning was the personal feedback and practice on specific features that are relevant for me.

    Faculty of Humanities
