I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University and part of the graduate school of the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS).

In 2020, I obtained my BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Cologne, followed by my MSc in Sociology and Social Research at Utrecht University in 2022.

My PhD project is part of a broader program under the Dutch National Science Agenda, aimed at enhancing women’s economic resilience. In the first three years, I used register data to examine the characteristics of women without paid employment or social benefits in the Netherlands, studied the mental health of female and male homemakers, and analyzed housewives’ volunteer work using Swiss household panel data. I am currently focusing on understanding why women choose homemaking over paid employment.
