Hanneke Tuithof is a teacher educator in history education.
Her workplace is at the Cultural History Department of the Department of History and Art History and she teaches within the Graduate School of Teaching at UU. She is also a senior lecturer for two days a week in the lectorate on curriculum issues in fundamental education at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences.

She supervises practical research by students, teachers and teacher trainers. Her own research focuses on the pedagogical content knowledge development of teachers in humanities.
In 2016-2017, she chaired the syllabus committee for the history havo-vwo exam. After that, she was a member of the comittee recalibration of the Canon of the Netherlands (2019-2020) and since then she regularly advises and lectures on the Canon of the Netherlands. In 2022, she advised on the Canon of Flanders. From October 2021 to February 2023, she was part of the cie strengthening knowledge formerly of the Dutch East Indies. The report came out in February 2023 (report 'Deel en Verbind').
