My interest is in the sorting mechanisms that govern the endosomal status of cells. Particular experience with Fluorescence microscopic analyses and biochemical experimentation have shaped my views on molecular working mechanisms and communication to maintain life-compatible cellular organization in an organism. Initially, the regulation of antigen presentation via MHC class II molecules to initialize adaptive immune responses was the main subject of study. The current focus is on the functions Extracellular Vesicles may play to obtain a balanced signal exchange within and between tissues.
Furthermore, Richard manages the Center for Cell Imaging (CCI) at the FVM and acts as a consulting scientist for fluorescence microscopy and cell biological experimentation.
