Jessi combines colloid synthesis, advanced electron microscopy and catalysis to understand and develop more efficient catalytic materials. We have a strong focus on multi-metallic core-shell nanoparticle catalysts, a novel class of materials with strongly enhanced catalytic properties. Jessi's team develops new colloidal synthesis strategies to control the structure of these core-shell nanoparticles with atomic precision. By employing in situ electron microscopy we look at these materials under operating conditions and correlate their structure to catalytic reactivity in selective hydrogenation and oxidation catalysis. Using our core-shell catalysts, we aim to contribute an impactful research line towards cleaner chemical conversions.
