Emir Kayacan

Emir Kayacan is a postdoctoral researcher at the ERI research cluster of the Law Department of Utrecht University. He is also associate professor in social policy at Istanbul University, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2016. His main research areas include employment policies and demographic issues related to social policy. Besides, he has publications in the field of organizational behavior.  

Emir is also the editor of the Journal of Social Policy Conferences, published since 1948 and covered in several international indexes. He has been teaching ‘Social policy’ and ‘Demographic structure analysis’ courses at the undergraduate level for five years. He has served as thesis advisor to master students on various subjects such as job satisfaction and elderly care technologies.  

He works at Utrecht University on the project titled ‘Researching the Phenomenon of NEET among Turkish Youth in the Netherlands’ under the supervision of Associate Professor dr. Sonja Bekker. The project aims to investigate the phenomenon of 'youth not in employment, education or training (NEET)' through Turkish youth living in the Netherlands. Within the scope of the research, the reasons for leaving education or the labor market, the difficulties they experienced while entering the labor market, the sources of welfare, and their expectations will be examined.
