Working at the intersection of law and economics

Strategy, Competition and Regulation is the ideal programme for anyone interested in getting exposure to legal frameworks and regulation and connecting those to economic principles. The atmosphere of Utrecht University is very welcoming and the best place for any student to be surrounded by many different cultures while enjoying the vibrant student life in the city.
The courses can be challenging and demand a proactive mindset but result in an exponential learning curve over the course of the year thanks to the high-quality teaching staff. You will learn to apply legal jurisprudence and EU-law into practice, boosting your analytical skillset. Attending this MSc programme was a unique experience for me, that has contributed to my value on the job market and my future prospects.

"For me, this programme was both a great academic experience and a key factor in helping me secure my dream role as a consultant. My interviewers were especially impressed with the structure of the programme, which brought together MSc and LLM students. Undertaking an inter-disciplinary Master’s is one thing, but working with students from different academic backgrounds goes one step further in replicating a real-life work situation. Besides mixing academic backgrounds, this programme attracts students from all over Europe and beyond, which really adds to the experience.

I would highly recommend this programme to those with a background in law and an interest in understanding the economic reasoning behind regulation. It also suits any economist looking to add a solid overview of current EU antitrust and market regulation to their toolbox. My personal highlights were the Competition I and II courses, which were taught by several different professors, all experts in their field and truly passionate about the subject. Added to this, Utrecht is the perfect student city. My advice would be to find accommodation on the Science Park campus and to enjoy morning walks in the beautiful Amelisweerd as often as possible!"
