Clinical Legal Education at Utrecht University

For almost 20 years, the Utrecht University School of Law has been uniquely positioned to provide quality legal assistance through its diverse and innovative clinical legal education programs. Students have made significant contributions to their client’s work, including legal memoranda for the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Dutch municipalities, third-party submissions before the European Court of Human Rights, and legal advice for start-ups and Dutch and international human rights NGOs. Students gain first-hand knowledge of institutions, acquire in-depth understanding of particular fields of law, follow important jurisprudential developments, and develop a range of valuable professional skills pertaining to legal research, analysis, drafting, communication and time management
