Y. (Yuang) Piao

PhD Candidate
Materials Chemistry and Catalysis

As a PhD candidate at Utrecht University, I am passionate about designing and preparing heterogeneous catalysts for various applications. I have a strong background in solid catalyst characterizations, including X-ray Diffraction, programmed temperature techniques, and electron microscopy (Thermo Fisher and JEOL). I have also gained valuable experience in evaluating catalytic performance using the Avantium Flowrence system, and in analyzing chromatographic data.

In addition, I have developed skills in building and operating large-scale ultra-high vacuum (UHV) instruments, such as NAP-XPS and STM. This has given me a deep insight into the surface and interface properties of catalysts and their interaction with reactants. I hold two master's degrees in heterogeneous catalysis and materials science and engineering, and I have published multiple patents in the field. I am always open to collaborating with professionals who share similar interests or those looking for expertise in these areas.
