I do theory-driven, empirical social research broadly construed. In my research, I combine theoretical insights on important societal problems with empirical evidence using a wide range of research designs from sociology, computer science and economics. My general research interests are in analytical sociology, economic sociology, environmental sociology, organizational behaviour, and quantitative methodology. Although primarily fundamental, my research aims at informing policy and the design of socio-economic systems. My work has been published in leading disciplinary journals, such as the American Journal of Political Science, American Sociological Review, European Sociological Review, Social Forces, Sociological Science, as well as in cross-disciplinary outlets such as Nature Communications and Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B. I am also an associate editor of European Sociological Review, the flagship journal of the European Consortium for Sociological Research.
