Palaeoecology

As a PhD-candidate, my research focuses on the Tagliamento Delta in Italy. The project aims to combine coastal morphodynamics and landscape reconstruction within a multidiscplinary context: what effect do changing morphodynamic conditions (Sea Level Rise, human habitation, different river courses) have on the landscape, and how is this preserved in the sediment? By using morphodynamic models in Delft3D and by analyzing lagoonal and riverine deposits from the last 8000 years, we hope to unravel this problem.

The project is internally funded within Utrecht University, and is done in a joint effort with the Bachelor's student fieldwork campaigns.
