I am a PhD candidate at Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.). In my doctoral thesis I focus on how infrastructure investments could reduce frictions in the labor market and promote inclusive economic development. I make use of novel data and a developing country context to study how frictions in the labor market (such as information barriers, power imbalances between employers and employees, and spatial constraints that limit access to better opportunities) can impact employment, wage inequality, and commuting decisions.

My primary research fields are Labor Economics, Development Economics, and Applied Microeconomics, with particular interest in inequality, labor market competition and wage-setting power, information frictions, and commuting.

I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Costa Rica. Following my undergraduate studies, I completed a two-year Research Master's degree in Multidisciplinary Economics at Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) supported by the Law, Economics and Governance International Talent Scholarship. Next, in October-2021, I started as a PhD candidate in Labor Economics at U.S.E. funded by Instituut Gak. In the fall of 2024, I was a visiting PhD Candidate at York University's Department of Economics in Toronto, Canada.
