As a taxidermist/technician in Anatomy & Physiology, I am involved in, among other things, the preparation and plastination of (parts of) animals for the purpose of education.

Preparation means that a certain part of an animal (e.g. specific nerve pathways, respiratory tract, reproductive organs, etc.) is made visible by removing the surrounding tissue. This part is then made durable and usable for education by plastination. This can be a hard plastinate, but also soft.

A soft plastinate retains some of the natural movement and can therefore be manipulated. A hard plastinate cannot do this, but is at the same time slightly less vulnerable.

I am also involved in supporting researchers and PhDs at RMU in the Hubrecht laboratory. My knowledge and expertise in histology and immunohistochemistry come in handy here.
