Svenja Waldmann is a senior researcher / geoscientist working on future visions for subsurface activities and, together with colleagues from other disciplines, on their corresponding economics, legal, and governance drivers to reduce carbon emissions. Her field of expertise is the use of the subsurface for e.g., carbon trapping, energy storage, and chemical processing. She has a particular intertest in bridging between fundamental sciences to broader perceptions of the energy transition and to translate technical content to non-specialists. Furthermore, Svenja has worked with various aspects of geochemistry, sediment petrography, diagenesis, and sedimentology in the field of energy storage. She has also been trained in a range of technical subjects including numerical simulations of geochemical reactions and transport processes in the (deep) subsurface as well as analytical investigations of rock material.
