Shuzhen Li is a PhD candidate in Finance at the Utrecht University School of Economics, Utrecht University. She holds an MSc in Behavioural Economics from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), as well as double bachelor's degrees in Management and Economics, also from SWUFE.

Working under the supervision of Dr. Yilong Xu, Dr. Paul van Bruggen, and Prof. Kees Koedijk, Shuzhen studies how people form beliefs and make decisions under uncertainty, and how targeted interventions can shape those choices. Her research sits at the intersection of behavioural and experimental economics, behavioural finance, sustainable finance, and the economics of artificial intelligence.

Her current work spans two main threads. The first examines how managers form beliefs about artificial intelligence's productivity effects and whether they can allocate the technology efficiently across a jagged frontier of tasks and workers. The second investigates whether investors' sustainability preferences persist when green investments underperform financially, using incentivized experiments to separate genuine non-pecuniary preferences from return expectations. Across both, she draws on experimental methods to understand how information environments and small design choices influence economic behaviour.
