Romeo Dipura is a PhD candidate of a joint doctoral program between Utrecht University, the Netherlands and TU Darmstadt, Germany. Currently, Romeo works under the Research Training Group on Critical Infrastructures (RTG-KRITIS) at TU Darmstadt. His research areas include urban planning, energy transitions, critical infrastructure, urban governance and resilience. His background is in Regional and Urban Planning and holds a BSc. Honours Degree in Regional and Urban Planning from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). He also holds an MPhil in Urban Studies from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His PhD research, “Governing Heterogenous Infrastructure in Southern Cities: A spatiotemporal perspective on Electricity Access in Durban and Cape Town”, explores the spatiotemporal dimensions of heterogenous sociotechnical systems in Southern cities by examining how heterogenous forms of electricity access in Durban and Cape Town evolve over time at the household and neighbourhood scale shaping and shaped by their spatiotemporal context. He is a member of the Zimbabwe Institute for Regional and Urban Planners (ZIRUP) and South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN). Prior to his current position he has practised as an urban planner for Arup Zimbabwe Private Limited where he contributed to various urban development projects in Southern Africa. Romeo has also worked as: a junior researcher for the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, research assistant for the Global City Leaders Survey at Cornell University (USA), student assistant at the Environmental and Geographical Sciences Department, University of Cape Town (UCT) and research assistant at the African Centre for Cities (ACC).
