ABOUT ME

I am a researcher affiliated with the Petrology Group in the Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University. Additionally, I hold a position as a lecturer at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development.

RESEARCH EXPERTISE

I am an environmental geochemist, and I love to work in the lab. I specialize in designing laboratory experiments to understand multicomponent and dynamic natural processes. I am very interested in understanding Geo-Bio interactions happening in both terrestrial and marine environments, and my research focuses on processes like carbon mineralization, (bio)weathering of silicate minerals, redox transformations, and overall biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and contaminants (both organic and inorganic) in the ecosystem. In terms of teaching, I teach courses related to topics of water quality, aqueous geochemistry, soil science, and basic chemistry. I coordinate a bachelor's 3rd year course, Environmental Chemistry and Health (EC&H), within the bachelor program Global Sustainability Science at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. In addition to course coordination, I am also involved as a lecturer in several other bachelor's and master's courses at Copernicus. My enthusiasm as an earth scientist fuels my passion for both research and education.
