Dr. Shirley Qian Jin is an Assistant Professor in social entrepreneurship in School of Economics at Utrecht University. She obtained her PhD in Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to joining Utrecht University, she was a Postdoc in Department of Public and International Affairs at City University of Hong Kong.

Her research interests primarily lie in the field of social entrepreneurship, organizational legitimacy and computational methods. Her research examines how social enterprises build legitimacy using cultural devices, how consumers make legitimacy judgment towards social enterprises and how social enterprises' legitimacy influence consumers' subsequent responses. She employs experimental techniques and computational methods including topic modeling and computer vision in her research. Her recent research expands to the field of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence for social good. Her research has been published in top-tier journal such as Journal of Business Ethics, among others.
