Patrick Smeets is an international expert in the field of microbial drinking water safety, risk assessment and risk management. His focus of work is in the fields of Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) and Water Safety Plans (WSP) addressing also climate change related risk for the whole urban water cycle. Patrick is the coordinator of the Hygiene and Safety research for the joint research program of the Dutch water companies. He works for KWR Watercycle Research Institute as senior scientific researcher. He is coördinator of the course on Drinking water and Sanitation in the Water Science Management master progam at the Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University.
