Marjolein is an earth scientist, with specialisation in geology/geochemistry. After completing a Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences at Utrecht University she obtained a Master's degree in Earth Structure and Dynamics with a focus on petrology and structural geology.

She is currently a junior lecturer within the department of Earth Sciences, working on the bachelor and master programmes. She is involved in multiple courses related to exact sciences, academic skills and fieldwork in the Pyrenees, Spain.
