As the kwartiermaker for the Digital Competence Center Martine is working at the interface of science and technology, which is a common theme throughout her career. Her academic background is in biology and environmental science. After her graduation she worked for the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. In 2017 she optained her PhD degree in computer science at the VU University on the subject of knowledge engineering and linked data. From 2019 to March 2024, she was team lead of the Research Engineering team at Utrecht University.
