Lonneke is a postdoctoral researcher. She examines the consequences of, and care after loss and trauma. In research projects among relatives of missing persons, homicidally bereaved people, people who have lost loved one due to MH17 disaster, earthquake survivors, people bereaved by traffic accidents and people bereaved in the COVID-19 pandemic, she identifies risk factors of psychopathology and evaluates treatment effects.

2) CONNECT project

Aim: to examine the course and determinants of psychotrauma complaints related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the general Dutch population. This is a longitudinal survey study among over 2000 Dutch people. This project is part of a pan-European study on the positive and negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic executed in eleven European countries.

3) The TALE study: TGI-CA Assessment after Loss in Europe
2019 - current
Aim: to gain insights in the emotional consequences after the death of a loved one by using among other the Traumatic Grief Inventory-Clinician Administered (TGI-CA). These insights may help to improve support for bereaved people. The following questions may be answered after completion of this study: "What grief reactions do people experience after the death of a significant other?" and "Why do people cope differently with a loss?" During this study data will be collected among Dutch and German-speaking bereaved people by telephone interviews.

4) Grief following MH17

Aim: to examine the course of symptoms over time in people who lost one or multiple significant others due to the plane disaster with flight MH17. Among others latent class growth modeling and cross-lagged panel analyses are used to analyze the data. Furthermore, the effectiveness of a treatment for this group will be evaluated in a randomized controlled trial.

5) Trafvic: Bereaved by traffic accidents

Aim: to identify risk factor for developing psychological complaints among peope who lost a significant other due to a traffic accident. In addition, the effectiveness of an online treatment for reducing psychopathology levels will be evaluated.

7) Grief disorder according to DSM-5 and ICD-11

Aim: to evaluate the psychometric properties of diagnostic criteria for persistent complex bereavement disorder (DSM-5) and prolonged grief disorder (ICD-11). This is studied in validation studies of grief instruments, latent class analyses, and network analyses.
