Koen Scholten is a PhD candidate in the SKILLNET project. His research interests include the cultural aspects of early modern science, in particular the development and negotiation of scholarly identity and memory, sociability, and credibility. His doctoral research focuses on the development of collective identities of knowledge communities in the early modern learned world by means of scholarly memorials, collections of scholars' lives, sites of memory, and commemoration.

Recently, the book Memory and Identity in the Learned World: Community Formation in the Early Modern World of Learning and Science, edited by Koen Scholten, Dirk van Miert, and Karl Enenkel was published by Brill in open access.
