Janneke van Dis (a.k.a. Janneke van Lith) is Associate Professor in the Theoretical Philosophy group of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Utrecht University. She studied physics at Utrecht University, and obtained her PhD in 2001 with a dissertation on the philosophy of statistical physics. She has been a visiting scholar at the universities of Cambridge, Pittsburgh and Oxford. Since 2002 she has been part of the Theoretical Philosophy group, teaching epistemology, philosophy of science, and philosophy of artificial intelligence. For many years she has been the program coordinator of the bachelor’s program in AI. As of September 2021, she is the director of studies of the School of Liberal Arts, comprising the BA programs in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Taal- en cultuurstudies, Kunstmatige Intelligentie, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Her current research interests include epistemology and philosophy of AI.
