Jan holds a Masters degree in Energy Science (Utrecht University) and a Masters degree in Economics (University Bayreuth). He has a strong background in energy system modeling, mathematical optimization and data analysis and is passionate about the transition towards a sustainable world. In his PhD project he focuses on large scale offshore wind integration in the North Sea region. In his work, he combinies various disciplines ranging from policy making and legal research with mathematical optimzation of large scale multi-energy systems.

After work, he loves to be on his bike or in his running shoes in the surroundings of Utrecht or to be in the kitchen cooking a delicious dinner.
