Decolonial NBS planning and futuring praxis 2023-2027 (PhD research)
- Janneke den Dekker's PhD research explores current planning practices for nature-based solutions (nature, biodiversity, and ecosystems). She interrogates the deeply entrenched narratives embedded in the planning of nature from a decolonial perspective. Her work ultimately answers the question of what narratives enable transformation for the future in Curaçao, Puerto Rico, and Barbados.
Funding
- To realize all her PhD research, she secured funding from the Dean's Faculty of Geosciences (Mosiac) in 2022.
- In 2025, she procured additional funding from the NATURA network for a 15-week fellowship for her research in Puerto Rico.
