Dr. Jeroen Mahieu is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at the Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.). He earned his PhD in Business Economics from KU Leuven. Before joining Utrecht University, Jeroen served as an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at VU Amsterdam and worked as researcher at Tover BV.

Jeroen's research primarily explores the labor market dynamics related to entrepreneurship and strategic decision-making in startups. His work delves into the consequences of entrepreneurial ventures on subsequent wage employment, the signaling effects of startups' legal form decisions on financing opportunities, and the impact of entrepreneurship on future productivity perceptions. His research contributes valuable insights into the complex trade-offs and decisions that entrepreneurs face in the labor market and the startup ecosystem. His work has been recognized and published in several leading scientific journals, including the Strategic Management Journal and the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
