My employment record (1979 - 2020) can be divided into two major activities: education and research, besides management. Below I shall elucidate both. Afterwards a review will follow with the most important additional activities (committee, editorial and the like) that are connected to my work.

In the past 30 years I have acquired a lot of experience with teaching in higher education and post master education. These experiences are related in large part to theory, empiricism, diagnostics and treatment of children with problems in calculating, but extend also to domains like ‘introduction to the psychology and pedagogy’, ‘diagnostics’, ‘remedial didactics’, special education’, ‘education for very hard learning children’, ‘education for hard learning children’, ‘implementation of learning methods’, ‘research with questionnaires’ and ‘(introduction to) learning problems’.

Since 1986 till 2020 I was active at the University Utrecht. The education I was responsible for the last years, is mainly education for students remedial education in the second, third year of their bachelor study and in the master specializing in learning problems. In this, the education is designed from the mutual coherence of various theoretical approaches.

 

Naturally I have published a lot about my specialization (children with problems in calculating), but besides that I have also deepened myself (empirical and theoretical) in other fields of research like learning problems in general, learning test research, cognition, education for foreign toddlers especially the development of courses for parents, stimulate thinking, reading, education for deaf children, education for children with a brain tumor, education and development of materials for highly gifted children, education for children with a cognitive limitation, and supervision from and through remedial education.

Since 1983 I have alone, or in cooperation with others, written multiple research proposals and presented them at different organizations. This has resulted in a lot of honored research projects. Financiers were among others: Dutch Scientific Organization NWO (5x), Ministry of Education O&W/OW&C (4x), Foundation Kinderpostzegels, CPS, OBD Het Gooi, Foundation Leer- en Opvoedingsmoeilijkheden, Ministry of WVC, KPC-group, and C.W. Millsfonds. In total these projects involve approximately € 3.5 million grants.
