Prof. dr. Ido de Haan is professor of Political History. His research and teaching is focused on the modern history of Western Europe, notably the nature, impact and memory of regime changes, revolutions and large-scale violence. He wrote extensively about the history and memory of the Holocaust. A second field of interest is the history of the institutions of citizenship, democracy and the (welfare) state, and the conceptual reflection on these aspects, with specific attention to the history of the Netherlands.
