Hanneke Hermans graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University. After a few months of international experience, she started a rotating internship in 2009 followed by a residency in Equine Surgery at the Equine Department of Utrecht University.
In February 2014 she passed the European Board exam of Equine Surgery and became a Diplomate of the ECVS (Equine College of Veterinary Surgery; Large Animal Surgery). 

She currently works as an Equine Surgeon and orthopaedic specialist at the Equine Department of Utrecht University. Her areas of main interest are Equine ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery and minimal invasive surgery and Equine dentistry. She is currently doing a PhD in Equine Ophthalmology, focussing on Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU).
