Dr. H.G.W. (Hans) Westerbeek

Assistant Professor
Language and Communication

I teach in the CIS bachelor-level courses CIW-lab and Rhetorics of Data Visualization, and in the master-level Data analysis and visualization. In addition I supervise theses and internships.

My research focuses on data visualization and visual communication. I am currently involved in a Netspar Topicality project on visual communication of expected pension benefits (and the inaccuracy of such expectations). I am also a supervisor in the PhD project Introducing a new pension system: The importance of distributive, procedural and interactional justice in which we study the challenges of communicating about current changes in the Dutch pension system.
