Gabriel Harmsen is a lecturer of Musicology at the Department of Media and Culture Studies. He acquired a BA in Music at the Utrechts Conservatorium (2017), completed a pre-master Musicology and obtained a Research MA in Musicology at the Utrecht University (2023, Cum Laude). He also worked as a researcher at the International Centre for Community Music (ICCM) at York St John University. As musicologist he is specialized in music revival theory, folk music and national identity, folk music and the humanitarian sector, and music and cultural sovereignty.
