Dr. Guilherme De Queiroz Stein

Researcher
Global Sustainability Governance

Guilherme holds a PhD in Public Policy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and is PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Münster. He has research experience in sustainability governance, investigating the relationship between institutions, actors, and regulatory regimes in bioeconomy, renewable energy, the economy of biodiversity, and access and benefit-sharing. His research has applied quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate the effects of different regulatory models on sustainability transition processes, to identify the distribution of costs and benefits among diverse stakeholders, such as companies, governments, research institutions, social movements and indigenous peoples. From a theoretical point of view, the investigation searches for an understanding of how political conflict and path-dependence processes influence governance arrangements’ adaptability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
