In my PhD project I hope to give insight into science communication for interdisciplinary research settings as well as teaching science popularization for liberal education. My PhD research uses insights from both Linguistics and Educational Sciences and the liberal education program Liberal Arts and Sciences at Utrecht University is a case study.

Liberal education students are unique: they have their own personalized training program, different disciplinary interests and become interdisciplinary researchers. Skills in science communication are especially important for liberal education, because it studies current societal issues – topics that need communication for students’ insights to make a real impact – and most liberal education students want their career to have real impact on society, whether it be in academia or outside of it.

My research is part of ILS at the Faculty of Humanities.
