I am a Postdoc-researcher in the NWO-WOTRO funded research project Follow the Food- foreign agribusiness and food chains in Africaheaded by Prof. Annelies Zoomers and. Dr. Guus van Westen.

The ‘Follow the Food’ project assesses the effects of foreign investments on local development and food security by comparing a variety of foreign agribusiness investment cases in different crops and business models across Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana.

Before joining Utrecht University, I worked as an advisor Sustainable Economic Development for the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. I developped trainings, conducted evaluations and provided policy advice in the field of development aid.

My PhD research was on farmer cooperatives and traders in cereal marketing in Mali, at Wageningen University.

I also work as an essayist, columnist and journalist  for Vice Versa, a journalistic platform on international development. Together with the editor Marc Broere in 2013 I published my first book: 'Minder Hypes meer Hippocrates- Een positieve injectie voor de ontwikkelingssector.'  And for VORK a magazine on innovations in the foodchain.
