Elena M. Fumagalli is an Assistant Professor at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Section Energy & Resources.

She is also a Part-time Professor at the European University Institute, Florence School of Regulation, Section Energy and Climate. 

Her research interests focus on the energy transition and include incentive regulation in energy networks, competition in electricity markets, and sustainable electricity access. 

She has conducted research and consultancy work for the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (ARERA), the Avvocatura dello Stato (Italian State Lawyers), the Italian Power Exchange, and a number of energy companies.

Before September 2018 she was an Associate Professor of Energy Economics at Politecnico di Milano, Dep. of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, and Teaching Area Coordinator at MIP, Politecnico di Milano's Business School.
