Erik Jacobs specializes in the relationship between press and politics during the revolutionary era of the late Eighteenth Century. He uses innovative methods to explore the press in the early days of modern democracy and has a keen interest for the transnational aspects of the revolutionary press history, resulting in publications on the political culture of the so-called sister republics. His study on the press and politics in the Batavian Republic 1795-1802 is due to be published shortly. Currently Erik Jacobs is employed as the History Fellow and assistant professor at University College Utrecht .
