Esther van Dijk works as a trainer/consultant at Educational Development & Training.

As a trainer, Esther supports the development of higher education teachers with courses, coaching (with and without video footage), assistance with educational development and guidance with practice-based education research (SoTL). "Teach what you preach" is an important principle for Esther. She intends not only to talk about the concepts and theories about education in her courses, but also to demonstrate in her teaching how these may be put into practice.

As an advisor, Esther mostly focuses on teacher professional development, development and innovation of courses and curricula and embedding practice-based education research (SoTL) in higher education. Her background as organizational and educational scientist makes sure she can see the different sides of the topic at hand. She also gladly uses her experience as a researcher to write about education in an accesible way and to contribute to (policy) research into education.

In 2023, Esther obtained her doctorate. Her PhD research was focused on expertise development of academics and was the result of a collaboration between the Centre for Academic Teaching (UU), the department of Pedagogy and Education (UU) en het Education Center (UMC Utrecht). Before obtaining her doctorate, Esther studied Public Administration and Organization Science and Education Science.
