At Utrecht University since 2009, Bettina Boschen worked as a research associate at the Netherlands Institute of the Law of the Sea (NILOS) which forms part of the Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans, and Sustainability Law (UCWOSL). Since 2014 she forms part of the faculty at University College Utrecht where she is a tutor for liberal arts and science students as well as an instructor teaching and coordinating Research in Context, and Legal Pespectives on Sustainability: the labour and environmental law nexus. In addition to these courses she guest lectures on public international law and the environment in a variety of other UCU courses.
