Daan’s research interests center on group processes, intergroup relations, and stress. He uses cardiovascular measures to differentiate negative stress (threat) from positive stress (challenge). These different forms of stress have important consequences for decision-making, performance, and health. With his colleagues, he examines various social factors in the emergence of threat and challenge, such as conflict, power, status, morality, social change, and inclusion.
