I am a historian by training, but since graduating I have always worked in Science faculties. I have worked at the universities of Groningen, Utrecht, Leiden, and VU Amsterdam. I have been visiting researcher or fellow at the University of Aarhus (Denmark), Imperial College, London, and the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. 

My books Synthetisch Denken (2008) and De Ontdekkers van de Hemel (2015) have received positive reviews in the Dutch press. Teylers Foundation of Haarlem awarded me its prestigious 2009 Gold Medal for Synthetisch Denken. 

Since 2014, I am tenured at Utrecht University, as researcher, lecturer and programme coordinator of the master's programme History and Philosophy of Science. I am a member of the Descartes Centre for History and Philosophy of Science.

I teach the master’s courses History of Knowledge and Science and the Dilemmas of Modernity, as well as several smaller courses and regular guest lectures. I also supervise multiple master's theses each year.
