EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging®

Dr Henk van den Broek is Assistant Professor in the Division of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, where he combines clinical service with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and academic research.

He graduated with honours from Utrecht University in 2013 and subsequently worked in small animal practice before undertaking specialist training. In 2018, he was awarded a PhD from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, with a thesis on chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder in cats. He subsequently completed a residency in veterinary radiology at Utrecht University and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.

He is registered with the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS) as a Radiation Protection Expert.

The ‘European Board of Veterinary Specialisation’ (EBVS®) is responsible for the training, examination, and accreditation of veterinary specialists in Europe. An EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist has completed a three-year postgraduate program followed by an examination after studying Veterinary Medicine. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine employs EBVS specialists from various fields. Additionally, the faculty is a recognized training institute for various specializations.
