Diede Farhosh-van Loon works at the Communication & Marketing Department of the Faculty of Humanities as communication advisor of (international) master marketing. She is editor-in-chief of the Master's websites and responsible for the marketing activities for the Master's programmes within the Humanities faculty.
Diede studied both at Utrecht University (Languages and Cultures of the Middle-East, track 'Arabic'), and at Leiden University (Master's degree in Persian Studies). In 2010 she joined the NWO research project 'Of Poetry and Politics: Classical Poetic Concepts in New Politics of Twentieth Century Iran' as a PhD-candidate and did research on the mystical elements in Khomeini's poems. In 2016 she obtained her doctor’s title for her dissertation entitled 'Of Love and Longing: A Study of Ayatollah Khomeini's Mystical Poetry and Its Reception in Iran and Abroad, of which a commercial edition was published early 2023.
