Research activities:

Morais Smith has been invited to give more than 170 talks in 16 different countries in Europe, Asia, and America, including Cambridge (UK), ETH Zurich (CH), Harvard (USA), Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris and Lyon, F), Santa Barbara (USA), Tsukuba (J), La Sapienza-Rome (I), Madrid (ES), Max-Planck Institutes (Dresden and Stuttgart, D), Rio de Janeiro (BR), Viena (A), Stockholm (S), Copenhagen (D), Leiden (Ehrenfestii colloquium, NL), Veldhoven (FOM meeting, plenary talk, NL), and Beijing (Chinese Academy of Science).

She has organized 20 (small and large) conferences. Among others, she was the chairman of the Denktank for organizing an exposition at the University Museum and she also organized the Fysica 2010 Conference in Utrecht, a joint event between the Dutch and Belgian Physical Societies.

During the last 10 years, she supervised 23 Master theses, 9 Bachelor theses, 9 PhD theses (7 finished, 2 in progress), and 8 postdocs. Some of her students received a Prize for their outstanding Master (Shell Prize) or PhD (Chorafas Prize) theses.

She has published 68 papers in Physical Review (A, B, and Letters) and about 20 papers in other Journals, including a few chapters of books. Her H-index is 18 and she has about 1000 citations.
