Clara Colonna is a PhD Candidate at Utrecht University in agri-food regulation. Her research focuses on sustainability of EU agri-food law, and in particular on post-growth approaches. In her research, she explores how EU agri-food law has been shaped by economic growth over the years, and how it could be reshaped towards post-growth futures.

More generally, Clara's research interests include agriculture and food regulation, the regulatory and policy space of Member States in the EU, and the role of law in favouring capitalist interests.

Next to her research, Clara is involved in various academic activities. Since November 2024, she has been a reviewer for the European Journal of Legal Studies (EJLS), and since spring 2025, she has been a member of the PhD Council and the PhD Law Forum at Utrecht University.

Prior to joining Utrecht University in 2023, Clara worked in various organisations on agri-food policy and food regulatory affairs, both in Paris and Brussels. Between 2021 and 2022, she was also a Board Member of Slow Food Youth Network (SFYN) Wageningen, and organised several events on local food systems in Wageningen.

Clara studied French law, EU law and International law at Paris-East Créteil University (UPEC), Maastricht University and Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. She also studied Food Science and Agri-Food Regulation at Wageningen University.
